Tuesday, April 30, 2002 * it's a done deal
Tests over as of yesterday. Bone density quick and easy. Did an extra view for some reason that had to do with radiation concerns. Catscan of chest was a little different. Usually have to drink stuff before catscan. This time they gave a contrast dye IV. Also fairly quick and easy.
Wasn't expecting the IV though and goofed. Not supposed to have any pressure or needles in right arm due to surgery and possibility of lymphedema which can cause your arm to swell. I even wear a bracelet that says this... and I've been very careful in the last 20 months to remember this.
However - it didn't even pop into my head until I was turning into my driveway and the cottonball and bandaid in my right arm was bothering me - I suddenly thought, "Oh shit! (excuse my french), I let her put that IV in my right arm!"
Called my Specialist and let them know. Told me that I knew what to watch out for and hopefully there wouldn't be a problem. So far, so good.

OK. Enough of that. Back to fun stuff. I planted 3 grapevines this morning. Have never tried to grow grape vines before but have always wanted to - so decided to try a few and see what happens. Besides, if and when I ever get a covered area in my backyard, I want the floor bricked and the top with wood slats covered in grape vines... perhaps with some ceiling fans and a hanging porch swing or two. Doesn't that sound comfortable?
I have several scenarios set up for my backyard. One is the above. Another is to add on a sunroom with the same brick floor and windows all around (the long kind that open like doors)and a sunroof that lets the light in, and again a porch out towards the back that has a hanging swing....
Back down by the creek we have a lower patio. Here under the trees I'd like to build a small cute comfortable shed - where plants can be potted and kids can use as a playhouse, etc. I'd cover it in vines and although the area is too shady for flowers, we'd make it a little haven for fun and rest.
Ideas, just ideas... but it's fun to picture. I can see us having an early evening meal with family/friends out under the fans on the vine covered patio and sitting there in the night on the porch swing looking at the stars.
I can see me potting plants down by the creek in the little vine covered shed while a grandkid or two runs in and out planting their own little creations or us sitting there drinking iced tea on the lower patio while the kids use the shed as a playhouse or fort.
Funny how the mind runs...
We also need to open more area on the side drive to flowers and veggies that need sun... and would love to have more trees in front. DH is opposed to a lot of this. Not sure why. Maybe because he mows and some of this makes it difficult to mow... but there would definitely be "less" to mow.
I've just got this thing about making things "useful" - making the most of the area - not just letting it sit there in "lawn"...
Have a good one! Rian |
