Wednesday, April 17, 2002 * after the storm...
Beautiful day - after all the thunderstorms and tornadoes last night. It was eerie... sky would go from black to that strange yellow-green. Reminded me of New Orleans when I was growing up - right before a hurricane. They would send us home from school and everyone would be boarding up their windows.
But although a few tornadoes did touch down last night around the Fort Worth area, and there was some damage, no injuries were reported.
Today is crystal clear, sky is blue, and sun is shining...
I'm sitting here waiting for a friend to come by and we're going to pick up more plants at a local nursery. Found an area to put my corn and cucumbers in, but need to work some goodies into the soil first.
This won't be in my herb garden as to be honest, that area doesn't get enough sun to grow most veggies. It's OK for lettuce and herbs, but that's about it. Going to try the 'old' rose garden where we cut back the Lady Banks. Should be enough sun there. If not, I may have to take over the lawn area on the other side of the drive. DH won't like that... but hey, we do have to grow our veggies!
I started planting flowers that needed sun on the fence side of the drive last year. It worked well. We didn't need lawn there anyway. By the end of the summer, it was looking like a informal English garden with masses of color here and there. Then DH started planting and replanting his roses over there. Now it's more of a rose garden - and I'm out of space again.

Back from our nursery jaunt. Bought slicing cucumbers, zucchini, arugula, and dill... Came home to a nice pot of tea angel food cake, and good conversation!
Not bad for the day after the storm...

I'd hoped to get a picture in, but no luck.
Do have to come up with how to handle the fact that it's coming close to this journal's first Anniversary (April 23, 2001)! Since I've been saving them by month and day only - pretty soon there will be double entries...
