* they did it!

It's been a more or less productive day.  Following the advice of one of my favorite jounal writers, John Bailey, I took my morning "Medicine Walk" (to coin his phrase).

It's a beautiful morning here in Texas, blue skies and sunny.  Unfortunately we do not live in the country or even a quaint little English community (though we can dream), but even though it's considered the dreaded "suburbs", we have lots of trees, wild flowers, and even a horse stables... so we get a smattering of nature here and there.  The walk completely around the enclosed area is just under 2 miles.

Our house is on a creek (a Texas creek... means not a huge creek) with a flood plain that creates a greenback so we are visited by an assortment of wildlife; squirrels, birds, opossums, raccoons, country mice, feral cats, and coyote.  Occasionally we see snakes, lizards, frogs, and turtles. But lately (last few years) we haven't been seeing a lot of amphibians.  Afraid that the use of chemicals may be threatening their existence (we don't use chemicals, but I see the trucks in the neighborhood).

Actually the box turtles should be showing up pretty soon.  My apple tree is flowering and they usually start appearing when the apples are almost ripe.  They like the figs too.

Had to stop and go make a fresh pot of coffee. I'm having a caffeine attack today.  Need good fresh coffee and dark chocolate!  Have it too.  Probably nullifies the good Macrobiotic diet I'm on (for my BC), but since I don't succumb every day, it should be alright.  I'll try to get all my anti-oxidants in today to compensate (even the green tea - which isn't a favorite).

Now to the topic I planned to write about, "They did it!".  I just got a phone call from Costa Rica where my youngest son and his fiance are visiting the RainForest.  They were staying at a Biological Reserve.  What they did was get married Saturday on the Reserve or in the RainForest or in the Canopy?  As you can see, I didn't get all the details.  But I'm thrilled.  It sounds so unconventional, but definitely memorable.  Can't wait for them to return and tell me all about it - and - see the pictures!

Well, have a good day where-ever you are and I'll write again tomorrow!
