Wednesday, April 25, 2001 * quiet centering
Not a terribly interesting day, but OK none the less. After Mass this morning I went over to LaMadeleine's for coffee and spent about an hour alternating between watching people and reading some articles I'd been saving.
One of them was about finding the quiet center of our lives. It quoted various writers and how they did this. Some found it in the bath. One even quoted Einstein as getting his best ideas anywhere among the three B's - the Bath, the Bed, and the Bus. Others needed sanctuaries and isolation while some wrote among the hustle bustle of busy families.
The most interesting story someone mentioned was from a great painter who said that when he went into his studio to work he always felt accompanied by crowds of imaginary presences. But as he lost himself in his work, they seemed to leave the room, one by one. And if the work was going well, he said, he left the room himself.
Ah, I thought - yes, what a great way to put it.
Well, from there the day went average; ran errands. Did get some great cards at Barnes & Nobles (Love their artsey cards!) Met Mom for lunch, stopped at MJ Designs to exchange a mat for grandson's photo. Walked for 35 minutes on the treadmill at the Q, and went out to dinner at 6, then short walk. Nothing too exciting, but not a bad day.
Kids will be back from Costa Rica tomorrow. So I should get to hear all about their holiday and impromptu wedding in the RainForest.
Did play on the computer with the photo art program a bit. Will add the photo I played with to the end of this journal entry. Have a good one!
See ya! Rian * Don't forget to check out sketch below*
