From Dawn to Dusk...
the journal
This gourd is growing on a fence in our neighborhood. I thought it was a nice touch, so it's one of the pics I took while walking yesterday.

As for today, it's practically gone.  We went to Mass this morning, then coffee, then dropped  Mama off at the Senior Center for Bingo and a luncheon.

I went home to bake as a
request from my youngest son for a favorite of his to bring to his workplace.

*  baking day...

Other than that the day has been fairly quiet.  The quest to continue organizing the computer room goes on - rather slowly, but it does go on.  I worked a bit more on my new calendar archives.  And I'm trying to teach myself HTML.  I'm slowly getting the gist of it.  It's the same old "ah ha!" or "hot damn" - so that's how that works...process.

I did get to watch my Gulf Frittilary lay eggs on the Passion Vine yesterday.  As many times as I've seen them flitting around, I've never witnessed the actual laying - and seen the individual eggs.  Will post a picture here of her doing this, but my camera doesn't have a really good zoom - so it's not perfectly clear.  At the moment I have 12 caterpillars in chrysalis and 6 more getting ready.  The first of this group went in on the 24th of July, so he/she should be emerging in a few days.

The tiny eggs are about the size of a pin head - small, but not too small to see.  They develop into tiny black caterpillars that later turn orangey with a dark stripe and black hairs. They feed on the Passion Vine and grow until they are ready to go into chrysalis.  Stay in there about 10 days and emerge into a beautiful orange and black butterfly (silver spots underneath the wings)!

Hope I didn't bore you.  I do enjoy these things, and realize that everyone does not... but since it's my journal... hey ho!
