I also have some great shots of my Gulf Frits (butterflies) mating. However, I will post them on my Nature section of my Photo Gallery as everyone may not be interested in this. I was surprised to see this activity going on as the butter on the right had just emerged from its chrysalis and had not even taken its first flight.
OK, on to other things.
Good stuff: Just received notification that one of my stories, "Summers in the South" will be published this week on USADEEPSOUTH.COM.
It's a story set in the 50's remembering what summers on a farm in Mississippi were like to an 8 year old. Those summers made a deep impact on my life - for being born and raised in the city of New Orleans, they were the only real contact I had with Nature. I have been an ardent Nature lover ever since. One priest at a retreat I was on years ago called me a Nature Mystic. Not really sure even now what that term actually means, but if it means that Nature draws me to God, then it's accurate.
Have decided that it's also time to post some of my childrens' stories that I had written for my grandchildren under the title, "Allie's Corner" - a newsletter with a continuing story of Allie, the Cajun Alligator, that lives in a swamp down in Southern Louisiana. Allie has a guardian angel, Fred, that keeps him out of trouble. And he goes on adventures, meets a Pollybird, and later falls in love with Ellie, another alligator, and learns what love and having a family is all about. Will post them first on my own website, then maybe check out some children's story sites.
Will let you know when I get them up and running - probably activate hyperlinks to those areas.
Now, I'd better shut down and see if I can edit my new archive calendar and journal sections that I tried to work on yesterday. For some reason Homestead wouldn't let me edit or save and I couldn't figure out why. I have plenty of space left. Maybe they were doing some maintenance??? Anyway, the original archive page is getting way too heavy... probably takes a while to load, so I'm trying to separate the journal archive into 2 parts; a calendar type and a journal by title type. Then I'll modify and leave the old archives with just the stories, etc. At least, that's the plan.
Have a good day! (Aaack! my cat is drinking my tea!...)

From Dawn to Dusk... the journal (of the white horse) |
Tuesday, August 14, 2001 * it's a good day...
Just an ordinary day, but so far seems to be a quiet reflective one. I've spent the entire morning writing, reading, and doing a few chores inbetween. Every once in a while a day comes along that seems to fall into the scheme of how you'd like your days to be...
Enclosing a picture here of my grand-daughter's hands making cookies. For some reason I really like this one.
