* feeling fat and foolish...

Had a shock this week.  Got on a scale for the first time in months and discovered I've gained almost 15 pounds since my surgery last summer.   Now I knew that  I had gained some weight, my clothes were not comfortable and my abdominal area is no longer flat - big deal.  I had survived a really difficult year and these things didn't bother me - much.

Until I saw the figure on the scale and said, "whoa!!!  I'd better not let this continue." Time to get back into the swing of things ,  meaning walking every day at the Fitness Center and working a little harder at refusing the ice-cream and desserts.

I've always ate healthy (or what I consider healthy for me), meaning mostly veggies, no red meat - I do eat chicken and fish, and little to no butter or sugar.  And I stuck to a really good Macrobiotic diet for a while - mostly fresh foods, no canned, and organic when I could get it.   Had incorporated the 5-8 fruits and veggies a day in and did fine for a while.  When I started traveling this summer, it got difficult - and I got lazy.

Time to get on the stick - as my father use to say. At my age, it's probably easy to let things slide - but I do know better.  So we're back to daily Yoga, and my freedom (JB's Medicine) walk, and daily trips to the fitness center.

Didn't feel too good yesterday evening.  May have been the increased exercise and the heat - then I took a cold shower to cool down and was suddenly so sleepy that I could hardly keep my eyes open.  Slept fittfully though...

Enough of that. If you read Tuesday's entry, you'll notice that I planned to get "Allie's Corner" stories up - and I didn't.  However, I did get "The Littlest Dragon" on my Stories section. Found out recently that it was my grand-daughter's favorite, so I thought I'd post it.

Also had a strange thing happen with one of my Gulf Frits.  I released 4 yesterday. One's wings were very large - bigger than the usual - actually very beautiful.  But he wasn't able to fly.  He tried several times, but it just seemed that they were too large and cumbersome.  I finally left him on the top of a plant - and turned it over to God.  A butterfly that can't fly seems so sad.  He was beautiful but ... (should be a moral here,yes?)

Running late today.  Did take a picture of this particular butterfly, but haven't time to download it, rescale, and upload it right now.  Perhaps tomorrow.  I also got a good shot of one of the box turtles eating out of Rose's dish outside...

Have someone coming over for tea soon, so-oo gotta run.
