From Dawn to Dusk... the journal (of the white horse) |

Sunday, August 19, 2001 * God Bless This Mess... Seems like "organization" or "lack of" is the theme of many journals these days... J.B. mentioned it, Dragon Lady added to it, and I guess I'd better put in my 2 cents worth. Organized chaos is OK with me, most of the time. I don't have to have things neat and orderly - a place for everything and everything in it's place - is not my style. But there is a limit. I do want things "clean" and while they may not be in one file on one particular shelf, they should at least be on the desk or in the room somewhere...right? This is my problem today. I can't find something that I know I saved and put in a safe place just so this sort of thing wouldn't happen. But where is it? I've checked all the likely "safe" places. I know it'll turn up, but I need it to turn up soon. Now this brings me to another subject - memory. It seems that my memory isn't doing so great lately. Is it because I have other things on my mind? Is it because I don't use a system and try to remember things? I read somewhere that if you don't have a reason to remember something or don't actively make a note to remember it, after about 30 seconds (I don't remember the actual time frame - see?) it's GONE. Well, I did get the 3rd Allie story up yesterday. I felt good about that. It is a young child's story, but it's fun to write. Allie is one of my favorite characters in my child's mind. He's slightly dense, lovable, and has a good heart. I've been a little nostalgic lately thinking about my childhood home in New Orleans. I decided to make myself a child again in my mind and see what I actually remembered from those early days. I started writing "My World at 5" - and once I get it cleaned up, I'll see if it's worth sharing. My journal time is up. Need to do a little cleaning up around here. Made fresh buttermilk blueberrypancakes this morning with sliced apples with real butter and cinnamon and toasted almonds.... hmmm, they were good. Now need to clean up the kitchen. Have a good one!
