* new temptation...

Sitting here typing away with Molly purring loudly on my lap and a cup of French Roast coffee with 2 scoops of Starbucks Java chip in it... so-oo good.  This Java Chip Ice-Cream is probably not new, but we discovered it in Wiscasset, Maine in a store called "Treats".

Unusual store on the corner of Maine street that has all sorts of food stuffs from home-made pastries and pies to Select Ice-creams, biscottis, and so much more.  Not a big store - took in two rooms with one long wood counter with stools towards the back where you could get your coffee from 3 large thermos(es?)..whatever.

But it's coffee ice-cream with large dark chocolate chunks in it... hmm-mmm.  Up to now ice-cream has never been a real temptation for me.  I do like it, but it doesn't call to me like coffee and chocolate do.  (Now "Dove Bars", the original with the dark chocolate coating, do
whisper
to me now and then...)

but this new Java Chip yells, "Here I am.  Come get me!" and a few minutes ago when I was brewing some fresh coffee, it screamed at me from the freezer, "Hey, put me in your coffee!  You'll love it!"

... and I did... and do.

Guess this is as good a place as any to post a picture of Wiscasset.  Didn't get a picture of "Treats" - sorry.

Another little shop they had in this town was very unusual.  It was off the Main street and down a little path.  Can't recall exactly what it was named, but it used butter molds to make all kinds of Christmas ornaments, magnets, etc.  Got the impression that it was an old art form. And they had a huge inventory... believe they mail ordered.

In general I believe that Wiscasset is best known for it's antigue shops... but for us, it'll always be 'Java Chip Ice-cream'.

Oh... we did visit another unique place there - "the Musical Wonder House"!  It's an 1852 Sea Captain's mansion that houses an overwelming musical collection of restored music boxes from all over the world.  Absolutely stunning variety of gorgeous pieces.

Guess that's enough for today.  Tomorrow  Boothbay Harbor...
