Tuesday, August 27, 2002 * new mouse...
Thank god that the old mouse was the only problem. I really hate it when I can't work on the computer. And having my mouse go bonkers... was so-oo frustrating. Must be like having a limb that won't do what you ask of it. (Listen to me comparing the mouse to a body part - now THAT is bad) But I kept moving the mouse every which way and it would go everywhere but where I wanted it to go... AArrgh!!!!
Anyway - now we're back to normal - at least what is normal for me - for the moment. Maine has been accomplished. Labor Day and Baby B's 1st birthday are coming up, then Grandson's 4th (can't believe that he's going to be 4!), then Thanksgiving, and then Christmas.... so that about does it for this year. Can you believe that it's almost 2003? Seems like we just got to the Millenium.
And DH and I will be celebrating our 35th in January!
Maybe somewhere inbetween those family events I will complete my 'summertime' goal of cleaning out the Study closet and finish putting the boxes and boxes of pictures in order and into albums. Ya think? Nah, probably not. But I will give it a shot.
Not continuing with vacation photos today. Giving it a rest. Most of the really good ones have already been posted and there are a few more... but will drift a little today.
Mama and I just got back from running errands. She wanted to go get some cards at Super Walmarts, so we did. On the way we stopped at this little place that makes home-made pies and had some chocolate pie and coffee.
Now that's out of my system, I'm hoping that tomorrow starts the ol' eat healthy again life. Which reminds me - better close this and go walk! Will take my "Lobster Chronicles" (a book about Lobster-fishing written by a woman from Maine) with me.
Didn't get very far. There's a dog in my garage. He/she? has made himself very comfortable in the corner under the worktable. Now I was going to go walk at the work-out center around the corner, but didn't want to go off and leave the garage door open - nor did I want to close it on the dog.
So, after a brief discussion with him/her, I told him he was welcome to stay there for a bit, but that he really needed to look for his home before too long. It's been storming here, so I would think that he ran off during the morning storm and got himself lost... (looks like a blonde lab mix - no collar or tags).
DH is not going to be pleased. Although he is kind-hearted and loves his cats, he is not a dog person. I know, I know. Hard to understand. We have had dogs. But he's never been attached to them. Now, me, on the otherhand - if it breathes, I will take it in. Actually - it doesn't even have to do that (my son often reminds me of my affinity for rocks).
None-the-less, we may have a problem here. If the dog stays put, DH will not like having to leave his garage door open overnight. But I can't call Animal Control so soon. His owners may be at work and not even realize that he/she is missing...

Quick change of subject:
This morning when it started storming about 6:45 or so - DH had already left for work. The thunder and lightning (which I tend to like - especially if I'm safe in bed) were fierce enough to wake me. Knowing that I'd left the computer on, I decided I'd better get up and turn it off. Oops, too late! The electricity went off. Then on, then off again... and continued to do this while I stood there - hand poised to shut it down. Finally I just turned off the power switch.
Thought that probably I'd better check on Mama (she doesn't like storms). On the way upstairs, I did a quick run to the BR, only to find Rose, our big white fearless cat, hiding behind the potty. She hates storms too.
When I got upstairs with my flashlight, I could see another flashlight moving about. The conversation went something like this:
"Mama, is that you?"
"Yes, it's me..."
So glad she answered me as she doesn't wear her hearing aid at night and all I have to do is surprise her in the dark... don't want to give her a heart attack! I said:
"What are you doing?"
"Being afraid..."
"Oh, well... it's just thunder and lightning..."
"Don't like lightning..."
"I know. Could you use a cup of tea?"
"You read my mind..."
We actually did get 2 cups of tea made during one of the "on again" episodes.
Have a good one! Rian
