Saturday, February 16, 2002 * 2001 - to be sorted through...
or at least that is 'the plan'.
Oh, it's a good thing that my journal is not visual. This floor is covered with boxes and the emptied contents... as is the top of my desk and daybed. The poor unsuspecting cats jump up on the desk top without regard to the mounds of paperwork piled on top - and consequently slip and slide across the desk scattering more paperwork in their wake.
I should possibly have begun this more orderly. But knowing me and my tendency to procrastinate - I best dump the whole drawer or box out on the floor and deal with it - or - I tend to piddle... look through a little here, a little there... not getting anything done.
It's hard to piddle when you have to wade through it...
so... the beat goes on.
Early this morning DH and I stopped at the cleaners on our way to the grocery. While I awaited my turn with my armload of laundry and dry cleaning, I couldn't help hearing the conversation going on between the customer and the person behind the counter.
The customer was holding a pretty dark slate evening gown and needed to have it pressed and freshened up for some function tonight. She stated that she would need it no later than 4:00, and would that be possible? It was, and all was settled and the dress was left.
Now you're wondering why I'm even mentioning this. It's just that my thought processes these days tell me that I must be getting old - because the thought of having to wear an evening gown and socializing tonight would not thrill me (Actually, it didn't thrill me in my younger days either).
Watching a movie at home with DH while having pie and coffee or popcorn and a coke is more my speed on most Saturday nights. Not that I don't enjoy an occasional (once a year?) formal or semi-formal affair (and growing up in New Orleans, I've had my share of Mardi Gras Balls). But to be honest, going to the Symphony (which can be done with anything from jeans to a long dress) is just about my speed.
Going to dinner with friends is also fun. And social affairs (any kind with friends and family) are great (ex: Mexican restaurant last night with the kids). But socializing with a bunch of strangers has never been fun for me. (Maybe I'm just shy....?)
Well, better put this baby to bed and get back to this Mess here on the floor.
unless...
DH has put a good movie on?

Question: Would those of you on my notify list let me know if you find this type easier to read than the previous one?
