* snow

It's snowing this morning here in Dallas, Texas.  Fat fluffy flakes that are really picturesque.  DH just emailed me " It's snowing here by work. How about there?"

Yes, here too.

The weatherman had suspected that we might get some snow late on Tuesday and/or  early Wednesday, but seems that the snow decided to surprise us by showing up early.  When Rose (cat) ran outside a few minutes ago, she stopped dead and stood there watching the snow with her head bouncing with the snowflakes... for about 30 seconds, then turned around and ran back inside the house.

I doubt if it will stick, but I like it when the flakes are large and fat... kind of like wet cotton floating down from the sky.

B had her first day at day care yesterday.  Seems she did fine after the first 30 minutes.  There were only 3 other babies in the infant room and daughter said that the other 3 month old and B kept smiling at each other.

My kids never had to go to day-care.  DH worked and I stayed home with the kids.  We never really talked about it.  It just happened that way.  We got married right out of college so while DH already had a job waiting, I didn't even look.

Which was probably for the best since first son arrived within the year, then 17 months later, a daughter, then 3 years later, another son.  I did go to work eventually.

Worked in the Veterinary Medical Profession.  Had 4 year Animal Science degree, but no way to go to Vet School with 3 small children, so went back and got an AMT degree (2 year Animal Medical Tech degree).

At least this way I could work in the field, do minor surgeries like spays, neuters, and declaws, etc.  Then officially retired in 1991.

Decided to do something totally different for a few more years (always writing on the side), then retired hopefully for good in 1997 right before first grandchild was born.  Wanted to be free to visit and help out as needed.

Looking back, it all worked out well.  Our house has always been a haven for wildlife... it's been a chore in itself to keep the numbers down.  Usually we work well with a base of 3 cats and a few birds... with the occasional stray whatever residing for a bit until a proper home or rehabilitation center can be found.

But over the years we've had quite a menagerie; horses, dogs, cats, birds, snakes, lizards, turtles, guina pigs, hamsters, etc. (and of course the occasional wild critter).  Since the kids are grown and residing in their own homes, and since I no longer work for an animal facility, we have less activity on the stray animal level.

Although the outside population of raccoons, possums, and stray cats seems to be growing a bit.  Could be that they are passing our name around the area as a "soft touch"...

Wow, it's really snowing now and it's beginning to stick.  We may have some picture quality snow if this persists. If so, I will post one tomorrow.
