* baby sitting

Wrote this entry about 2 weeks ago and am just getting around to posting it.

Babysitting for Grand-daughter

I'm writing this journal entry here in San Antonio with the intention of posting it later when I return to Dallas.  This particular computer is too slow to even try to work on my web pages while here.

But I just got the idea that I could be writing when B was sleeping and that way I'd have a few pages to post when I got home - to make up.  I will just have to remember to save it to a disk and to take it home with me when I leave.

The reason I'm here is to try to postpone sending the baby to a day-care for as long as possible.  She is scheduled to go in February - so we are doing what we can to keep her home until then.   I will admit that I was a little apprehensive about taking care of a young baby all day since it HAS been a long time... But she is so sweet and so-oo good that so far it has been a pleasure.

She smiles so much and is beginning to giggle some.  And she is due to wake up from her nap any minute so I'm going to close for today.  Besides, I need to check the broccoli I've got cooking.

Yesterday went very well. She was a little angel, eating, sleeping, and playing in between.  The only times she seems to get a little fussy is sometimes about 20 minutes before her next bottle - and then again about 5 pm - which is her sleepy/grumpy time.

Today we had a photo session after lunch and before her nap.  We dressed her up and took pictures.  It was fun for about 10 - 15  minutes, then she  played on her mat a bit, then took a nap in her swing... where she is now.

I'm in the process of making spinach with rice soup (served with grated cheese and pine nuts) while she's asleep.  I saw the recipe in the newspaper and it looked really good.  I'll let you know how it turns out.

The soup is done - but is a little disappointing so far.  Of course I haven't added the spinach yet as it says to add spinach and cook for 5 minutes before serving.  Can't imagine that it could make that much difference.  It's OK, just not as good as the picture in the newspaper looks...
