* Happy 4th of July... more so since 911

Was thinking about my entry last year on the 4th. Didn't say much.  We did cook that 4th though.  This year due to my medical test yesterday is just a day to rest.  I actually tried to do a little work in the yard this morning - dug up and transplanted a Passion Vine - but my back and abdomen started hurting, so I quit.  Devoted the rest of the day to rest. The cats love it when you're home and will actually sleep the day away with them.

Later went out and checked out the bookstore... bought a new mystery to start tonight. I Like the 'light' mysteries...like the 'cat who' books by Braun and the caterering and herb mysteries by Mott Davidson and Susan Albert.  This is a series by Rita Mae Brown. I've not read her before.  After Auel's "Shelters of Stone", it's a change of pace.

I'm also in the process of reading "Simple Abundance" by Sarah Breathnach.  And she refers quite a bit to Joan Borysenko's writings of which I keep a copy of Joan's "Pocketfull of Miracles" by my bed and read every night.

An example:  A quote to explain how to separate the Higher Self from the Ego. This is paraphrased. The motive of the Higher Self is always love and service, whereas the motive of the Ego is more often security and/or paranoia. The ego speaks the language of fear. Those who are motivated by fear, no matter how they justify such motivation to themselves, are working to keep the world in darkness. Review your actions.  Were they motivated by love or fear?  Don't be hasty in deciding. Tune in and pray for help in overcoming fear.

Interesting words. Gives me something to think about before I go to sleep at night.

Well, it's late and I think I'll call it a day.  Watched some of the fireworks on PBS.  Really terrific!  Hope you enjoyed your day.
