* 2002 - 1945 = 57

I awoke this morning to these words:

"Happy Birthday!...  Are you going to buy a chicken today?"

Since I wasn't totally awake.  Had only begun to clear my head of the night sleepies and was feeling slightly euphoric thinking something like... 'well, I'm 57 today, I'm alive, and I don't have Colon Cancer. This is good.'

Then the above words made their way through to my cloudy brain and I started laughing before I was completely awake. DH kept saying:

"What's so funny?"

and I couldn't stop laughing.

Maybe you had to be there inside my head at the time, but to awaken to "Happy Birthday, are you going to buy a chicken today?" was too much.

My answer when I got myself under control was:

"Well, I WAS  thinking about buying another Bugie (Parakeet)... but a chicken?"

Then he explained that I had wanted to buy a roast chicken over at Tom Thumbs the day before, but had decided against it.  He thought that maybe I wanted to get one for tonight.

Makes sense now.

Anyway, it started the day off happily.

Rose and Molly gave me the other humorous incident of the day.  As I was leaving to take Mama to the Senior Center to play Bingo, Molly was sitting in the windowseat in the den looking out the window and making whining sounds.  Looking over I saw that Rose had placed herself in the bird bath outside and was enjoying teasing Molly (who isn't allowed outside).  I took the next series of photos which show pretty much what was going on...

It was a nice day.  Spoke to both sons and daughter (who lives in the Hill country of San Antonio - but has not been flooded out - thank god)
AND discovered Vanilla Coke!  ... which is pretty good (makes one a little nostalgic for the 60's).
