Wednesday, July 10, 2002 * got that peaceful, easy feeling...
Quiet here today. Mama is off at the Senior Center. I did some chores and ran some errands earlier, but needed to be back or noon. Refrigerator repairman coming between 12 and 5... (don't you hate that? between 12 and 5 - that's the whole dadburned day!)
I guess it's not so bad. If I have to be home, I can get some things done - like wash clothes and clean floors and do bills...
or
I could start the new mystery book I just picked up at B&N...???
However, I am prepared for a fight with the Refrigerator Repairman. We bought a new Kitchenaid side by side Refrigerator/Freezer just a year ago last May. The main parts run fine and we've been happy with it, but the Ice-Maker stops making ice every few months.
We've had the Repairman out 3 or 4 times in the last year. I've asked him if we're doing something that causes the problem or if we could do something to prevent the problem. All he ever says is "nope", fixes it, and it's OK for another few months.
This has been fine since it's been under warranty until now. Now we have to pay $55 for the service call alone. I don't want to pay $55 plus every few months.... and I plan to tell him so!

Still haven't heard from Homestead about my loss of elements. Find it strange as they have previously been very supportive. Hope they aren't getting too big... and losing some of their customer service in the process. I'd hate to have to start looking for a new site... not that they aren't out there, just hate to have to go through the trouble of changing.
On a better note, I'm thinking about trying a new recipe tonight. It's called Zucchini Fettacini. It was in the 'inspired vegetarian' section of Cooking Light Magazine. Looks pretty easy and pretty good too. Will let you know.
Closing now. Mama's home and I need to take her BP. We're monitoring it this week since she just started taking BP meds.
Will close with more action from Thibbadeaux:
He is so-oo funny...
BTW, Refrig Repairman came by at 4:30. He not only didn't charge me, but ordered a kit that is supposed to fix the problem. It'll be in and he will be back in 10 days... Wasn't that nice? And we talked about the advantages (taste-wise) of growing your own produce (I was shelling black-eyed peas from my 2 plants). We laughed as it may take me a while to collect a cupful - but I'm still proud of them peas.
Another nice thing - my friend came by this afternoon with a home-made freshly made, still warm, angel food cake for my b-day. It was so delicious. I made a pot of Typhoo tea and Mama, friend, and I enjoyed our tea and cake.
AND
DH brought home Dove Bars! (god, I love Dove Bars... and we haven't seen them around much lately.) Have a good night. Rian
