Tuesday, July 30, 2002 * let's keep it simple?
Thinking about all the discussion that is going on with Autumn Leaves2.. Hopefully all we need to do is change the people in charge and keep the rest as is? Beyond that, if something or someone questionable turns up, we'll either let the site monitors handle it or vote on it if it becomes necessary. This is only my humble opinion... but I would think it best to keep it simple - the less changes the better.
That said I'll go on to my little world. Let's see. Have 3 more okra ready to cook - should have probably 3-4 more in the next few days. Since I only have 2 plants, that's pretty good. I think I will cut them up and cook them with my 1/3 cup of fresh black eyed peas - again from my 2 black-eyed pea plants. I know it's not much, but this way I learn what grows well and what doesn't. And I can get very excited about 3 okra and a few black eyed peas!
Yesterday I was in a 'cooking' mood. Made spinach crepes and pumpkin soup for supper. May not sound yummy to some, but both these recipes are really good. The spinach casserole recipe is an old one of Mama's and can be used as a casserole, as a dip, or as a filling for crepes or tortillas. The pumpkin soup recipe was given to us by a dear friend and is not only always wonderful, but really easy to make. I topped it off with old fashioned tea cakes for dessert.
A few of my readers have commented that they liked yesterday's format - the ocean scene. I do too. But I also like the change every once in a while. Right now I may use that format for Sundays or for weekends or for whenever I'm pretending in my head to be out there in my rolled up jeans, bare feet, and straw hat fishing in the surf or sitting cross legged on a rock looking out over the waves...
I once saw a photo in Life magazine which I've never been able to forget. It was of a lighthouse in the mist of a horrific storm at sea and the keeper was standing on the rail with waves swirling around him to almost the top of the lighthouse. I remember looking at that picture and feeling like I was there...
Still don't know HOW someone got that picture unless it was taken from above by a rescue helicopter???
Have a good one! (Picture is Thib laying on my desk watching me:) Rian
