* saw a Zebra!

Had to make note of this.  Yesterday afternoon (about 5pm) we saw a Zebra butterfly out between my Texas Star Hibiscus and the butterfly bush.  He was so pretty, not as large as the Zebra Swallowtail, but smaller and apparently not a very swift flyer.  He basically "fluttered" here and there for perhaps 15 minutes, but never alighting long enough for me to get a good pic.  I have seen various Swallowtails, Gulf Frits, and Monarchs out there, but this Zebra was a first for me.

As I mentioned before my hummingbirds are back.  We have Ruby thoats and Black chins.  They are so cute - feeding at the feeders and diving into my huge Texas Star Red Hibiscus and almost completely disappearing...  I sit out there in the early morning drinking my coffee or hot tea and watching.

Today we're waiting for a repairman to put some kind of "kit" into my freezer which is supposed to be the fix it for my ice maker.  Sure hope so.  We're also having someone come out to give us an estimate on screening in the back porch.  So, it's a day to wait - you know the ol'
sometime between noon and 5
thing.

Mama is feeling better.  I took her out to the Hallmark store and then off to LaMadeleine's for an early lunch.  She really needs to be out and about.  Sitting home for her is too depressing...  even though she reads a lot - being out is better for her psychologically.

Now me on the other hand can find real joy sitting in the backyard doing nothing but watching nature... but over the years we've come to a compromise.  I try to fix it so that we get to do a little of both.

Just saw a Giant Swallowtail fly by in the backyard.  They are something else.  Ran to get my camera, but alas, he was gone by the time I got out there.  Took a few shots of the Hibiscus... (see side bar)

Well, it's past appt times for one of those due out here.  Called to check on it and was told that they were so sorry, didn't get appt time in on the computer, will come by tomorrow... aarghhhhhhhh!

Called repairman to double check on that appt. and was told via computer voice that he should be there "today between 12 and 5pm"...
Better be.  It's just so frustrating to wait at home for someone who may or may not show up.

Time to delve into the treat drawer!  Need fresh coffee and dark chocolate right now...

                                                  ...good stuff!
