Wednesday, July 4, 2001 * family, food, and fascinating discovery...
Not going to be a long entry here as it's a holiday. We want to work in the yard, rest, relax, cook out - - and enjoy being home with family...
There's chicken on the grill, home-made bread baking in the kitchen and a variety of fresh veggies, salads, and desserts awaiting, along with ice tea and beer!
Will make this note though, among the drab brown chrysalis' that my caterpillars (Gulf Frittilaries) have formed - there appears this really neat bright jade green one with metallic gold spots. It is so different and pretty that it fascinates me.
Well, I went on the Internet and checked a few places and with a few people and have come to the conclusion that it must be a Monarch chrysalis. How this caterpillar ended up on the Passion Vine with my Gulf Frittilaries I'll always wonder. They are pretty specific for Milkweed - and as far as I can tell, we don't have any of that around. But I'm glad to have it and will await it's emergence with bated breath.
Will write more tomorrow!
