Monday, July 9, 2001 * trying to stay busy... One of those days where you must stay busy in order to keep your mind off "things" - which I won't go into at the moment. I re-organized and "tightened up" my Archives, deleting journal dates where there were no entries, adding brief descriptions of my stories, and also addtional information to other areas. Came across a favorite saying/quote/poem - not sure exactly what it is or who wrote it - so didn't feel comfortable adding it to Favorite Quote section. But I've always liked it as it imparts a certain wisdom. Will put it here for now : watch your thoughts, thoughts become words watch your words, words become actions watch your actions, actions become habits watch your habits, habits become character watch your character character determines your destiny Makes you think, yes? I've always believed that your thoughts were powerful. I guess they are, if in the end, they determine your destiny. Isn't hindsight wonderful? Don't you wish that you had known these things when you were younger and had more time....? Not that it takes that much time. You can change your life in a minute. Don't have a photo today. And may add to this entry before the day is out. So, if you want, check back.... Well, I am adding a little more tonight. The "things" I needed to keep my mind off earlier today was a Company Layoff. There was a big one today. We survived it. Thank God - and I do mean this literally. This is not to say that we'll survive the next. But I plan to do some serious thanking in the next few weeks. It's a sorry state we've come to when NOP (normal operating procedure) involves laying off hundreds to thousands of hard working people from their jobs as a means of controlling profit and loss. But it seems to be the way it is. Going to close and get a good night's sleep. Lord knows I didn't get one last night. Goodnight and God bless! Rian |
