* Baby birds and other critters...

Checked out the 'wren situation' this morning.  Sure enough Mama Wren is sitting on her eggs.  She didn't fly off either, just looked at me. I calmly backed off and said quietly, "just checking"...

Then last night our raccoon visitors were about on the patio.  The youngster... or maybe 'teen age' fearless one (because he is all leg and curiosity) let me open the back door and take pictures of him.

... and Sadie (the stray grey cat that appeared in our yard a few months back) has also decided to stay.  She can be found sleeping on the patio furniture during the night and in the garden during the day.  DH named her "Sadie" because she has the sadest expression on her face.

I sat out there yesterday evening and 'talked' to her.  She'll come to within about 5 feet of you, but no closer. Asked her why she was so sad.  No answer, she just laid there, looked at me, and listened.  I told her that if she stayed around long enough, she would have to get shots.  But that I didn't think we could have another cat in the house.  There are 3 in there permanently and Rose is inside/outside.

Later I put a bowl of cream out and told her to drink it before the raccoons came.  She did... I watched from the kitchen.
