*  new burb...

OK, I joined a new burb today.  It's called " Fellow Travelers".  That's 2 burbs I've joined so far.  Autumn Leaves is the other.  Guess I'm not a big joiner - but I'm a great lurker.  Like to sit in the background and read, watch, or listen...  Once I feel comfortable (and that may take a lo-oong time), then I'll start adding my 2 cents worth.

Actually DH and I went to the last of the 2001 season's Symphonies this past Sunday and we were having coffee with some friends before the concert.  Someone mentioned something about 'seating' - and we discussed where we do and don't like to sit for events.  I had to say that we were the quintessent Catholic couple who prefer to sit in the back.... way in the back.

You may ask why?... or you may not.  But I'm going to tell you anyway.  There are many reasons, but first and foremost is because I can observe what's going on around me from the back.  I can't do this up front.  As long as I can see and hear (which is easier nowadays since at most events the seats are gradually elevated and the theaters are equipped with 'surround sound' or whatever they call it..) I'd much rather be in the background.

In movies, if you sit in the back, kids can't throw popcorn down on you, and people can't cough down your back...

At events, the onstage personas can't point you out, ask you questions, or insist that you come onstage...

Maybe it has a little to do with growing up in Catholic school where you didn't want to be too close to the nuns and priests where they could single you out...

or maybe I'm just shy.

Whatever...

hmm...mmm... not sure I'm adding any 'words of wisdom' for fellow travelers here - but at least I'm willing to share the road.

Updates:

Am back in my regular Yoga class.  Can't do all the positions like I used to, but am getting better.  My left shoulder (which was frozen a year ago) has come back - but not to it's original agility.  My right is slowly coming around.  Usually feel achy and sore the next day - but hey, I take a hot bath and pop a few Tylenols and I'm fine.

Checked status of Wren Mama sitting on her nest.  She's still there.  Should be hearing "baby bird sounds" soon.

2nd batch of corn and cucumbers almost ready for the table.

Hyacinth bean vine doing great.  Purple flowers already on some.
Cypress vine and Passion Vine climbing fence also.

Sad-ie Sadie (grey stray cat in backyard) starting to look less sad... may be due to frequent conversations with her and occasional bowls of cream.

Going to close now so I can clean Petey's cage.  Petey is a budgie that a friend found in her garden a few years back. He's been alone since Danny, a finch and his used to be cage-mate died last year.  Now he's about to entertain a 'lady friend'.  Went to the Pet Store yesterday and found him a likely candidate.
