* fires burning...

The wildfires continue to burn. It's hard to imagine that they can't be contained.  I guess it's man's Ego that makes us feel like we can control anything... until things happen that make us realize otherwise.
I've been praying for rain - a lot of rain - we need some help here.

About 36-37 years ago I was on a plane from Louisiana to Colorado where I was to spend the summer taking some Biology and Chemistry classes at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. On the flight I met a young man who was obviously from Texas (boots and hat - the whole bit).  We talked.  He was on his way to Colorado as a fire-fighter.  I remember thinking then 'How exciting'.  I was 20.   When we got off the plane he helped me carry my bags.  Funny how things jog your memory... Wonder if he's still fighting fires? Guess he'd be too old. I hope he got to be too old...

but she/he let me pet her/him yesterday... just a quick tentative pet.  That Carnation Cream works wonders!
