Saturday, June 16, 2001 * a visit to the Vet...
We finally took "Rambling Rose" to the Vet this morning. Got her all tested and vacinated so she can continue to live in our rose garden. Since she's been there for over a month, we decided we'd better make her legal. He mentioned something very disturbing (course it was only conjecture) but he said that she was in good condition, no diseases, no fleas, etc. - looked like she was both spayed and declawed, BUT that she had 2 broken canine teeth which he said looked like the result of a kick in the mouth or some trauma to the mouth. Well, THAT would be a good reason to leave home and take up residence in someone's rose garden, don't you think?
Anyway, she is back here and settled comfortably on the patio, drinking her cream and eating her perscription diet. Now that she is vaccinated, she can come inside if the weather gets too hot or too nasty.
Molly, however, is still quite upset that Rose is settling in in "her" backyard. She had quite a hissy fit yesterday when she was watching Rose eat on the patio when another cat strolled over ( a huge black stray that does come by occasionally - he's not agressive and stops by from time to time - cat has a HUGE head.) Molly was making such awful sounds that Thibbadeax (wus that he is) decided to throttle her soundly. We finally had to intercede and lock Molly in her room for a time-out. Rose simply took her perch on top of the plant stand and watched as the black cat ate.
She's pretty laid back. We observed her the other night as a baby possum sauntered over to her food on the patio and helped himself. He then climbed up onto the pillow that we had placed out there for Rose and curled up. She just watched.
As for Teela, the old timer of our 3, she accepts almost anything as long as it leaves her alone...
