Monday, June 24, 2002 * new babe is born... Actually a new babe is in the process of being born at this very moment... a new little life is struggling to push his way out into the world - while his mama watches Oprah! Got the news via phone this morning from my daughter that the time had come and that our dear friend was definitely in labor and it shouldn't be much longer. We waited... and waited... and waited... By late afternoon I emailed my concern as to why we hadn't heard. Daughter made a phone call and expectant daddy said that all was well, but moving slowly and that expectant mommy was watching Oprah! Now there was a time when the whole business of birthing a baby kept a mommy much too busy for watching TV. God knows TV was the farthest thing from my mind when I had my 3. But times have changed and thanks to the wonders of modern medicine, giving birth can apparently be a relatively comfortable process. I saw the evidence of this when Baby B was born. There was my daughter in the actual process of delivering a baby - baby's head crowning and ... well, let's just say that it looked extremely painful... but B was talking and laughing and conversing like it was the most natural thing in the world - which of course it is... Anyway, it is now 5:55 PM and still we wait... Little "J" is taking his own good time... ~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7:05 PM - just returned from our evening walk and ... Announcement: Baby "J" has arrived!! A BOY (of course) 7 lbs. 14oz. (unless the info I received is incorrect) Welcome to the World Little One! and a Happy Monday to everyone! Rian |
