From Dawn to Dusk... the journal |
Thursday, March 14, 2002 * over carbo-ed... This is a late entry. I started this right before supper last night with plans to finish it before bed. Well... What I think actually happened was that since I've been dieting - more or less - for the last few weeks and eating healthy things like fruits and vegetables most of the time, that I "over-carbo-ed" last night. The scales showed that I had deleted 10 lbs. so I celebrated by letting myself eat 3 pieces of vegetarian pizza! It was so-oo good. But then I almost immediately fell asleep on the sofa... and that was the end of my journaling for the night. So here it is Friday morning and I'm just finishing Thursday. There wasn't anything in particular that I was going to write about anyway. Was going to mention a funny incident in the dentist's waiting room the other day. Could be that it was only funny for me. Mama broke a part of a tooth that her bridge is attached to, so I took her off to the dentist. While waiting for her, I was listening to a young mother talk to her 2 year old. He was looking at some hanging shadow boxes on the wall that displayed butterflies that were pinned on. He said: "But-ter-flies?..." His Mom said, "Yes, honey." Then he said something else that I didn't catch and she responded with: "Well, ... you see they died and the doctor put them there for you to look at." I almost choked on the ... "they died." I could envision all these little butterflies suddenly having little heart attacks. (I know I'm weird, but odd things sometimes strike me as funny) I do understand her choice of words when talking to a child. It just took me off guard. Probably won't journal again today (Friday), but hope to come up with a good picture to post Saturday! Happy TGIF! Rian |
