* the "Ides of March"

Decided to journal today after all...

Significant date for us since we moved here to Texas on the Ides of March, 1971, 31 years ago during a sand storm.  Looking at the beautiful cool weather out there today, it's hard to believe about the sand storm.  Of course it HAS  been extremely windy the last few days, just not hot and dry.... yet.

There is something else that I might mention that happened recently.  Now that Baby B goes to daycare, she's exposed to all sorts of things, like colds, and flu, and what-not.  This is expected and somewhat tolerable.  But when my daughter emailed me that Baby B had been in an "incident" this week, I was unprepared for my own reaction.

Apparently a toddler had tried to take a toy from her (she's 5 months this week) and she had refused to relinguish it.  In his frustration, he bit her on the arm.

Now this is probably not an uncommon phenomenum at daycare centers.  But she's only 5 months old!

I indignantly told DH that it wasn't fair.  She doesn't even have any teeth.

His comment was:

"So you're mad because she couldn't bite him back?"

"Yes! ... uh, no.  I don't know.  I guess I'm mad because she's too little to fight back."

He laughed.

Guess my "grannie genes" were acting up.

Later my daughter told me that Baby B had defended herself to a point.  She had grabbed his face when he bit her trying to get him off and scratched him pretty good with her little fingernails.

So, I guess she's not totally defenseless...

Have a good one.
