* March - in like a Lion!

Wow!  March has really come in like a Lion... the temperatures dropped, the rain became sleet, the wind howled!  So much for our winter which, until recently, has been rather mild.  They say the temp is going to drop to 12 degrees tonight.  Our poor little plants don't know what's happening...

and the birds are eating up a storm!  They're all over the yard, Sparrows and Juncos and Cardinals and Mourning Doves and Starlings... the cats are watching from the windows and loving it!  Even the stray cats have come by for a bite of food.  So far the Reverend Mr. Black with his thick black fur and huge head has been by (he even slept on the wool blanket that we leave on the porch sofa last night), his son (smaller version of same), and the black and white cat that Rose loves to chase off.

Our three and Rose haven't been allowed out due to the weather... and the birds... and too many strays coming by.  They wouldn't like it out there anyway.

Both the fountain and the bird bath are frozen solid.

DH and ventured out early to have coffee and to do our grocery shopping before it got too bad. Now I'm marinading chicken in a garlic and lemon pepper marinade which will be baked in the oven and then served with some brown rice with garlic and toasted almonds and a little fresh broccoli with Hollandaise sauce.

I have a great looking recipe for a chocolate dessert, but will try to hold that off until after Easter...

So much for this first Saturday in March!  Have a good weekend!
