Saturday, March 23, 2002 * typical
Typical for a Saturday. Sleep a little later, get up to coffee (sometimes on the patio if the weather permits - hmm-m nice), feed cats, and check email. Run errands - stopping for more coffee first and perhaps a begal. Home again. Put groceries away, check yard for strays, let cats out, work in yard, have lunch, watch a video, walk -- by then it's about time for supper... Not terribly exciting, but nice when the weather is good. And it's good today - sunny and mild.
I love Saturdays because they're easy... no rush, no bother. Use to be I always worked Saturdays (Veterinary Hospitals are always open on Saturdays) and I think I came to resent it that everyone else was home for the day, but me. But I paid my dues and now fully appreciate the day.
The cats do too - as the girls (Molly and Teela) get to go outside into the back yard with Rose on Saturday. They know this and are waiting by the door when we return from the grocery.
They must wait for the customary yard check for strays that might give them a problem (the big black cat, Reverend Mr. Black, is no threat...in fact, he is a great yard protector keeping others away) Once DH has checked around, they are instructed again on the
rules of the outside:
Stay in your own yard Don't go in the front and return in a moderate amount of time
Teela always patiently waits for you to finish your speel - looking intently at the door at all times. Molly, on the otherhand, talks the whole time you're talking as if to say, "Yeh, yeh, we know... whatever..."
Now, Thibbadeaux - wus that he is - will spend his day sitting in the windows enjoying the fresh air or will retire to one of the "drawers" - like my pj one in the hall bath.
guess we take comfort where we can...
