Monday, May 20, 2002 It's one of those mornings... bright, sunny, cool, and magical. Woke up late - almost 8am - put on the coffee, slipped into jeans and a sweatshirt and headed outside. Beautiful morning! Sun slipping up from the creek onto the back patio. Everything aglow and dewey...
Checked on my new plants... something keeps digging up my tomato plant. Digs it up carefully and lays it on its side - third time in the last 2 weeks. Poor plant. But the roots are undisturbed and I just slip him back into the hole and cover it up - with consoling words of course.
Corn stalks getting tall and tassels forming where the corn cob will eventually be. I've never grown corn before but this seems to be the way it works. Will try to get a picture to post. Such a little thing to get excited about - but I love it.
Squash and cucumber vines thriving. Hyacinth bean vines growing and cypress out of control. Can't dig up all the extras fast enough. They're faster than I am. Trying to dig up and give away the little suckers. Hate to have to pull them and throw them out.
Passion vines also shooting up everywhere - not as many as the cypress though - hundreds of cypress, maybe 6 passion vines. Just need to transplant them to locations where they have room to spread. Gulf Frittilaries will find them.
