Thursday, May 30, 2002 * reading 'Shelters of Stone'
Have been reading the 5th book by Jean Auel in her Clan of the Cave Bear Series. Do like these books. Sometimes I think that if maybe I wasn't meant to be a 'Wizard' whose letter got lost (my owl could still be out there looking for me... ya think?)
then maybe I should have been a research Anthropologist or Geologist...or Paleontologist (sp?). I mean wouldn't it be fun to work at a site - like through Earthwatch or one of those organizations? DH does not agree that this would be fun... but then he doesn't like fishing either.
Don't have any deep thoughts tonight - just a few shallow ones like:
Should I run in the 'race for the cure' this Saturday? I would like to, but don't know anyone else who's running...
and
What do we want to eat tomorrow night? It'll be Friday night and I probably won't want to cook...
pretty borr-rr-ing!!
if I did want to cook, I could cook some red beans and rice... brought back some good Camilia brand beans from Baton Rouge... and have been wanting to make some bread pudding with that great new whiskey sauce recipe my mother-in-law gave me.
Maybe someone out there would like it. It's really good stuff...and so simple!
Home-made Bourbon Sauce
1/4 cup butter 1/2 cup sugar 1 egg yolk, beaten 2 Tablespoons water 1 or 2 Tablespoons Bourbon
In small saucepan, melt butter. Stir in sugar, egg yolk, and water. Over medium high heat, cook, stirring constantly, 5 to 6 minutes or until mixture boils and sugar dissolves.
Remove from heat. Stir in Bourbon. Spoon warm sauce over warm pudding and serve.
Serves 4.
