*  waiting for Lili...

Not much to say today as we all watch the news and the weather stations... and wait for Lili.  Can't believe that another hurricane is going to batter the coast so soon after Isidore.

My friend in La Place evacuated for Isidore, I imagine she's doing it for Lili too. Told them to come here. Can't reach her now. Don't think any of our families will leave though. Usually they board things up and hang in there.

My cousin just sent us some clippings of the flooding in the area where we used to live close to Lake Ponchatrain.  It was waist deep.  She said that just this week her neighbor and herself had the drains in the street by their homes cleaned.  Hopefully it will help the rain waters drain faster.

Can't say that I'm not anxious about it, but we've weathered a lot of hurricanes.  They'll be alright.  That's the attitude at home.  That's why they give hurricane parties and write on the boarded up buildings, "Do your worst!"  I guess it's Man's defiance of Nature's fury.  (But a 20 foot storm surge!... that's something I'd like to see - but definitely not from up close.  I'll leave that to satellite (sp?) cameras)

My brother evacuated once - a few years back - got stuck on the highway bumper to bumper for like 15 hours - then couldn't find a room anywhere - said he'd never do it again. He'd rather keep a boat in the backyard. Told him that if the winds were 150 mph, his boat would blow away...

So - I'll pray for all the people and things in the path of Lili... that they'll be alright despite our forebodings.  I think we should all go to Beacon Light and ride it out with Ava - there's safety in numbers - and "thoughts are powerful" - so we'll all think good thoughts!

God bless
