Wednesday, September 4, 2002 * another fattening discovery...
OK, I made another wonderful, but fattening discovery today. Someone had told me over the weekend that Starbucks had a new drink out. Well, I'm sure that they are constantly coming up with new drinks, but I usually stick to my Cafe Mocha or Mocha Frappiccino (sp?).
But my friend said that she tried their Coconut Mocha Frap and it was fantastic!
So - today after Mass, and after dropping off Mama at the Senior Center, I stopped off at the bookstore to get a new mystery book. As I was leaving, spied Starbucks and thought,
Hmm-mm, maybe I'll try the Coconut Mocha Frap...
So I asked if they had it. They did. They made it. I drank it. It really is good... could have done without the whipped cream, chocolate, and toasted coconut on top... well, could have - but didn't (Besides, I have a broken toe - shouldn't I have some comforting?).
BTW, the toe is broken... broke clear through right at the base - or so the x-rays showed. But the bones are still in allignment and its only the little one. He was going to put me in a soft boot if the other two were also broken, but they weren't. Said to tape the little toe to the one next to it to immobilize it a bit and that it should heal on its own in 3 - 6 weeks.
Seawall Beach, Maine
Thinking how much I would love to walk barefoot there at the beach today. That salt water would heal my broken toe, wouldn't it. Salt water heals almost everything... body and soul.

Change of subject here. While talking to a friend on the phone yesterday Thibbadeaux and Molly were 'playing around' on the floor in front of me. I grabbed my camera and took a few shots:
big yawn...

Change of subject again: Have any of you out there heard much about the CA-125 blood test for Ovarian Cancer? Someone recently sent out an Alert - saying that women should ask for this test at their OB/Gyn annual. She said that the normal PAP Smear test is not enough.
Apparently she had Ovarian Cancer (unless I misunderstood?) even though she'd had a complete hysterectomy years ago. I believe that she indicated that the cancer was in the lining of her ...peritoneum? That the cancer was finally detected by this test and that it had ranges similar to the ranges of the prostate cancer test. Going online to the NCI says that the screening for this type of cancer is not necessarily accurate. Going to ask my doctors this go-round (end of month) about this, but wanted to know if anyone out there had heard of it??
Thanks Rian
