Wednesday, September 25, 2002 * my silly parakeets For those of you who have been following my journal for a while, you know that Pauli and Do are 2 parakeets that I adopted after Petey died (there's a story there, but you'll have to go back to here to find it). Well, they were both very young when I took them in, and since there are no older keets around to show them the way, they are really flighty. Inside their cage which is large, they have mirrors, swings, and several different types of bird toys. They play with all of them and sometimes even climb around upside down and inside out on top of the cage. This is really weird looking. They look like little colored bats. Do especially likes to do this. (Do is short for Doodle - and Pauli is short for Polly (when we thought he was a she.... so, you see, it's Polly Wolly Doodle...) Any...way, I thought I'd get them a treat that Petey and all my previous birds loved - a honey stick. So I picked one up at Petco and hung it in the cage when I got home. Well, you would have thought that I'd hung "Satan Himself" in that cage! They went bananas! Flying all around, hitting the walls, scattering feathers and birdseed everywhere... making quite a racket too. I just stood there and stared at them. Finally walked off thinking you guys are really strange... ~~~~~~~~~~~ Note: Report from BS today - good (after scaring the bejeebees out of me with additional mammos and sonograms...) Rian |
