*  back from Beacon Light...

Spent Wednesday night at Beacon Light, Ava's get away place - just Toby and  I... and the Phantom (ghost of B.L.).

Thought we might watch the storm move in (Watching a Hurricane come through in a Lighthouse is one of those things that are on my 'adventure wish list').

But alas, now 'tropical storm' Isidore missed the Texas coast and battered Louisiana instead.  Still there was wind and rain aplenty!

Basically it was an uneventful evening with Toby and I out on the rocks for a bit, then later snuggled in the lighthouse warm and cozy with a good book I picked off one of Ava's shelves...

until Toby's whining woke me up.  Thought maybe he needed to go out, but he kept looking towards the stairwell.  When I finally looked in that direction, I noticed a faint eerie glow  (almost like a glowing mist) creeping down from high in the tower.

It reminded me of 'the dragon's breath' Merlin talks about in his stories - only this was light - dim and hard to describe - more ghostly like a creeping shadow of light..

Having met/felt the Phantom and been warned by Ava of the Phantom's light that is sometimes seen (since the actual lighthouse light is no longer lit), I relaxed, took Toby into my bed, patted him to let him know it was OK, and we both slept through the remainder of the night.

We had to be up early, get him back to Bailey's Cove, and  I had to get to my Oncologist's appointment at 9:30.

All went well, exam, BW, chest x-rays, etc.  except that for some odd reason, he told me I was running a fever... a little over 100.  Asked me if I felt OK.  Told him that I felt fine  (maybe it was Phantom fever??).

Who knows?  Could be yesterday's Mammo trauma or my broken toe?

Anyway, got a "go for the next 6 months" and Dr. S did do a CA125 blood test for those interested.  Although he explained that it is not considered a screening test, there were reasons that warranted it.
